Exactly what this site collects, why, and the choices you have. Plain English, complete list, no surprises.

Effective September 17, 2026

1. The short version

We collect what you type into our forms, basic account details if you create a member account, and first-party measurements of how the site is used — pages viewed, videos watched, time spent, and which outside links get clicked. If you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner, we also use Google Analytics 4 to measure the site. We use that to run the Roundtable and make the site better. We do not sell your information, we do not run advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

2. Information you give us

Forms. When you send an inquiry through the contact page, apply to be a speaker, or sign up for the newsletter, we store what you submit: typically your first and last name, email address, phone number, business name, and your message. Newsletter signup stores your email address.

Member accounts. If you create an account, we store your email address, your name, and a securely hashed password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see or store your plain-text password). Comments you post are stored with your account, and are reviewed by our moderation team before they appear publicly.

Event registration. Registration for our events happens on Eventbrite under Eventbrite’s own privacy practices. We receive attendee names, email addresses, and ticket information for events we host.

3. Information collected automatically

First-party analytics. The site measures its own use and stores the results in our own database. This record stays with us and is never sold or handed to an ad network. We record: the pages you view, the videos and newsletter posts you open, how long a page stays on your screen, clicks on links that leave our site (for example to Eventbrite), and a random session ID that exists only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it. This data is not tied to your name or email, and we don’t fingerprint devices. You can turn this measurement off with “Only required” in the cookie banner.

Google Analytics 4. Only if you choose “Accept all” in the cookie banner, we also run Google Analytics 4. Until then nothing loads from Google and nothing is sent. It records the pages you view, your approximate location (city or region, estimated from your IP address), your device and browser type, and the site or search engine that sent you here. If you accepted, it also counts the actions we treat as results: newsletter signups, contact form submissions, new member accounts, and clicks on links that leave our site, such as event registration on Eventbrite. Those are counted as events and are not sent with your name or email address. Google Analytics 4 does not store your full IP address: it uses it to estimate a location and then discards it. Google may set the two cookies named in section 6. This data is processed by Google LLC under Google’s privacy policy. We use it only to see which pages and videos people find useful; we run no ads and no advertising features. You can withdraw consent at any time by choosing “Only required”, either in the banner or after reopening it from “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer, and Google offers a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site.

Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, and requested pages — used for security and to keep the site running.

4. How we use it

To deliver what you asked for: answer your inquiry, process a nomination or application, send you the agenda before an event and the recap after, and operate your member account and comments. To understand which content earns your time so we can program more of it. And to secure the site against abuse.

If you are on our email list, we may send occasional emails about new Roundtable programming. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site and the Roundtable: Supabase (database and account authentication), Vercel (website hosting), Eventbrite (event registration), YouTube (video playback — see cookies below), Google (Google Analytics, only if you chose “Accept all”), and the platform we use to send our emails. Each operates under its own privacy commitments.

We will disclose information if required by law, by court order, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of the Roundtable, its members, or the public.

6. Cookies & similar technologies

Here is the complete list of what this site stores in your browser and why:

  • Cookie choice (required). for-cookie-consentremembers the choice you make in the cookie banner so we don’t ask you on every visit. Stays until you clear it or change your choice.
  • Login cookies (required if you sign in). If you sign in to a member account (or our team signs in to the content dashboard), Supabase sets authentication cookies (sb-…) that keep you signed in. Without them, login can’t work.
  • Analytics session ID (optional). for_sid is a random ID stored only for your current browser tab, used to count a visit once instead of on every page. It is deleted automatically when the tab closes, and a small companion marker stops a newsletter post from being counted twice. Declining analytics stops these.
  • Google Analytics (optional, third party). Set only after you choose “Accept all”. _ga and _ga_*(the second ends in our property ID) tell Google Analytics that later visits come from the same browser. Both last two years. “Only required” stops Google Analytics from loading, so no new ones are set; you can remove existing ones in your browser settings.
  • YouTube (third party). Videos are embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which sets no advertising cookies while you browse. If you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.

That’s the whole list — no advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers. You can change your choice any time below, or clear cookies in your browser settings.

You haven't made a choice yet — the banner is shown below.

7. Your rights & choices

You can request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — including your member account and any comments you’ve posted. Email ted@fixedopsroundtable.com and we will respond within thirty days.

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email we send, and you can decline analytics, including Google Analytics, with “Only required” in the cookie banner. “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer reopens the banner if you want to change your answer.

8. Data retention

We keep the information you provide for as long as we have a working relationship or as required to comply with our legal obligations. Analytics events are kept as aggregate history for the site. If you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it from our active systems and from backups in the ordinary course of our retention cycle.

9. Children

The Roundtable is a business-to-business platform for the automotive retail industry. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of sixteen.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example when we add a feature that changes what we collect. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email.
